If you’re in the market for a new home, or the home you’ve chosen to buy has a septic system, it’s important to have that system inspected by professionals. An inspection can save you thousands of dollars, or even the hassle of installing a new septic system.
Our inspection services and recommendations are extremely useful because we are dedicated to ensuring that you understand the problems with your septic system, and are able to make informed choices about your next steps.
We complete the following points of an inspection:
- Complete underground open-pit inspection
- Digital video camera viewing and analysis of all parts of the system
- Pumping available upon request
- Mapping the system
- Probing and/or soil boring of the drainage area
Septic system inspections are not included in your typical home inspection. Septic systems last about 25 years, which means it’s imperative that you understand the life of your current system prior to buying. A new septic system can cost anywhere from $10,000 to $40,000, which is enough to impact the value of your new home.
Additionally, septic tanks should be pumped every three years. When purchasing a new home, ask the seller when the last time the septic tank was pumped, so that you can plan ahead accordingly.
Finally, if you are planning on remodeling, renovating, or making additions to your new home, take note of the number of bedrooms the house has upon purchase. Septic systems are designed based on the number of bedrooms within the home, so if you plan on adding bedrooms that exceed the size of your current septic system, you may be setting yourself up for early system failure.
Our inspectors are certified, insured, and members of NEHA, and will provide you with a full report of our findings.
